about

As an American born in the early 80s, I'd probably never have heard of Cliff Richard if it weren't for the TV show The Young Ones. Although it aired in the UK when I was but a tot and I never caught it even when it aired on MTV in the states, I discovered it on video through a friend and swiftly became a huge fan. I still don't know WHY the show is riddled with references to an English pop singer from the 60s of middling fame, but I thought this song, which served as namesake and theme for the show, would be fun to learn.

This is part of my MayCovers project: in May of 2016, I recorded and shared a cover song every day for a month, resulting in the release of 28 covers and two originals. This album features 12 of the best recordings from that experiment.
